Commands used : –

sudo passwd root # set a root password
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install lightdm
sudo nano /etc/lightdm/llightdm.conf # paste the 4 line below in the lightdm.conf file

[SeatDefaults]
greeter-session=unity-greeter
user-session=ubuntu
greeter-show-manual-login=true
