I have a laptop which I bought 10 years ago, so it’s very low powered by today’s standards. But I easily run android studio and an android emulator on it, at the same time, and guess what? The performance is very similar to what you get on a mid-range laptop available in the market today.

What my laptop lacks in the hardware department, I make up for it by installing Linux distros that are built for superior performance. These Xfce and Lxde distros breathe a new life into older hardware.

These operating systems have reduced overhead, allowing the computer to use more resources in terms of memory and CPU cycles for user tasks. Thereby providing visible boosts in performance. Today I’ve picked for you, the top 5 best Linux distros that deliver a power-packed computing experience along with solid stability, great usability, and some with downright stunning loo

What would you recommend for a person who just wants to have a smooth experience with AndroidStudio? Because on Ubuntu, it's a fricking painnnnnnnn. Sometimes, there are minute long lags between me moving the mouse and the cursor moving on screen while running android studios. It's frustrating. My laptop is an old Acer with 4 GB RAM and 500 GB ROM with a 1.60 GHz Intel Celeron processor. Welppp

Sergio Bocanegra mentioned that after a Linux Mint install trashed his WiFi adapter config he was still able to connect to his network router with a cable. I would add that assuming "cable" means is a typical CAT6 Ethernet cable with RJ45 connectors then this is likely to be superior to WiFi anyway. Even older Ethernet adapters will support 100 Mbps, while the newer ones will do 1000 Mbps (aka 1 Gbps) and even 10 Gbps – of course your router ports will need be able to match any such speed selection. But beyond speed, wired connections like this should be far more reliable and consistent than WiFi connections in most situations. They only lack mobility.
However, I've noticed that more and more laptops no longer include an RJ45 Ethernet port, which is too bad because this removes the option for what has long been the fastest and most reliable method of network connection.

you don't need any desktop environment if you have a very low end pc and also need performance at the same time, just install a lightweight distro like Arch and a window manager like i3-gaps or something and you're good to go, xfce was always aimed to be small in size not the fastest today kde performs better than xfce.

I tried many linux but I feel stressed bcoz of these reasons
    1. Linuxs never follow same application extension deb, appimage and more. This is damn confusing
    2. Installing application by code, where in the world ???? 98% of people don't know coding and never do that. Linux has to stop showing code installations for commercial customers
    3. UI lags like a hell
    4. UI icons are still worst
    5. App store is poorly optimised. Why don't linux uses one global app store for all distros
    6. Desktop space management is very very very poor
    7. Dialog box spacing, text alignment and font sizes are really immatured
    8. No drivers for intel, amd and nvidia. Atleast global linux community has to create a separate app and driver for intel, amd and nvidia, so that it will attract them to invest in it.
    9. Remove unoptimised apps from store.
    10. Never bring terminal to the people at first sight. Most People never buys laptop for coding.
    11. Smooth the animations.. remove unnecessary animations..
    12. Dont make disk, activities and system related tools as apps. so that people will uninstall without knowing what it is.
    13. Linux has to be unified or else android will remove linux in the near future even android came from linux.. .

i use Zorin OS as my daily driver. i highly recommend it. i use version 12 for my really old laptop and the latest version is screaming fast on my desktop.

however if you want a VERY lightweight distro, look up DSL linux (damn small linux) 55mb after install.
